1-NEST or Nationwide Education and Scholarship Test

NEST is an exam which provides a golden opportunity for students to avail scholarships and self- finance their education. The point of distinction for this test is that is it conducted at two levels Junior and Senior. So that students from class IX to class XII can benefit from this exam. Since March 2006, SEMCI INDIA has been the organizing authority for NEST.

NEST junior level exam has further two divisions part-I and part-II. Nest Junior-I is for bona fide students who are currently studying is class XI or class X. However, NEST Junior-II is for class XI and class XII students.

Also, certificate of appreciation will be awarded to all participants.

Likewise NEST Senior level exam takes place as part-I and part-II. Nest Senior-I specifically caters to first and second year degree students of Medical, Engineering, BCA/B.SC, Diploma etc. But NEST Senior-II is specifically for third and fourth year degree students of Medical, Engineering, BCA/B.SC, Diploma etc.

NEST Application Forms are available online, NEST Junior Level application forms can be filled from January,2017 till March,2017. NEST exam pattern consists of MCQ questions. Textbooks of class IX – XII and the course books of respective degree courses is the study material for reference to prepare for NEST. Application form costs INR 500 excluding the late fee and the sample book cost.

  • KVPY Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana

KVPY is a scholarship program funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. KVPY has been providing National Program of Fellowship in Basic Sciences that offers scholarship and contingency grants up to the Pre-PH. D level to selected students. KVPY is administered by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) to attract exceptionally highly motivated students for pursuing basic science courses and research career in science.

KVPY Application Form is available from 2nd week of July 2017 till 4th week of August 2017.

The selection of students is made from those studying in XI standard to 1st year in any undergraduate Program in Basic Sciences. The KVPY 2017 test has the following three streams

SA- Students studying Science stream in Class 11 can appear for this stream.

SX- Students pursuing Science stream in Class 12 can appear for this stream.

SB- Students studying Science stream in the first year of graduation can appear for this stream.

  • NTSE

NTSE (National Talent Search Examination) is a scholarship program in India which aims to financially secure future of students.

The objective of NTSE is to identify talented and meritorious students who are provided financial assistance to study further. NTSE ensures that a student is encouraged to complete his/her education till PHD level with money not hindering their zeal to learn.

The NTSE Examination is conducted for students studying in Class 10th only.

The application form for NTSE 2017-18 stage-I can be obtained from State/UT Liaison officer.

After qualifying the state level written exam students will appear for national level NTSE exam. This stage will determine which students will avail scholarships.

NTSE awards approximately 1000 scholarships each year.

Reservation criteria for NTSE is 15% -SC category, 7.5% -ST category and 4% -Physically Challenged group of students.

Amount of scholarship will be:

  • Scholarship of Rs.1250 per month for class XI and XII.
  • Scholarship of Rs.2000/- per month for Undergraduates and Postgraduates students.
  • Amount of Scholarship for Ph.D. be fixed accordance with the UGC norms.
  • Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students

The Scheme is in operational since 2008. The target of the plan is to give money related help to the exemplary students having family wage of under Rs.6 lakh per annum, to meet their everyday costs while seeking higher studies. Yearly target is 82000 scholarships for each year (41000 for boys and 41000 for girls). Students who have scored above 80 percentiles in class XII are qualified to apply under this Scheme.

The scholarship is INR 10,000/ – per annum for the initial three years and INR 20,000/ – per annum for the fourth and fifth year.

For getting scholarship under Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Student an individual might have to prove ownership of Aadhaar card.

Some other documents which can be used as identification proof:-

Aadhaar Enrolment ID slip,Application made for Aadhaar enrolment,Voter identity card,Permanent Account Number,Passport, Driving License

Students who can avail scholarship will depend on the quota assigned to the Board from which they have qualified class XII i.e C.B.S.E, I.C.S.E and individual State Boards.

  • HDFC Scholarship

HDFC offers a need based scholarship available for class VI to XII, undergraduate and postgraduate students. The crisis defined by HDFC covers any unfortunate event like death of parents, separation of parents, loss of job, critical or life-threatening sickness.

HDFC launched the Education Crisis Scholarship Support Scheme for students, who due to any sudden critical event are about to drop their studies. Financial support is extended to the students who qualify exam and are deemed fit as per the standards of HDFC scholarship scheme.

HDFC scholarship application form will be available from 2 July,2017 to 15 August,2017. It is available in online as well as offline mode. But online mode is preferred more as compared to the offline mode.

HDFC Scholarship is offered only for a single year but it can be renewed for maximum 2 years. So, the applicant has to reapply and requalify for HDFC scholarship every year.
