4. John Wilkes Booth
John Wilkes Booth was an American actor affiliated with Confederate and widely known for his successful assassination attempt on Abraham Lincoln. Although General Robert E. Lee has surrendered his forces at Appomattox court house, Booth still convinced that the war hasn’t over. Booth managed to sneak into the president’s box in the Ford’s theater and mortally wounded Lincoln with a single gunshot into the head. Taking advantage of the confusion, Booth fled and cried “Sic Semper Tyranis”. He was found a week later and killed by Boston Corbett, a Union soldier. Mary Sratt, David Herold and other conspirators were quickly tried and hanged on July 1865.
