8. Paraskavedekatriaphobia


In many Anglo-Saxon cultures, Friday the 13th is often considered as a bad day. Similar superstition also exists in other cultures, such as Tuesday the 13th Latin America, Spain and Greece; and Friday the 17th in Italy. Paraskavedekatriaphobia is often an extension to triskaidekaphobia or the fear of the number 13. Based on historical records, the fear of the Friday 13th could originate from the persecution of the Knights of Templar that began at France on Friday, October 13th, 1307. The warrior-monk society was accused of performing homosexuality, heresy and pagan celebrations. Many of them fled to various countries and they could be behind the establishment many controversial organizations such Rosicrucian, Freemasonry and others.
