4. Tell People Where You’re Going
Tell a couple friends or family members where you’re going, who you’re going with and when you intend to be back. Let them known both your route and your destination. If you’re making a big trip, you can also tell the Coast Guard your float plan. If someone knows you should already be back from your trip, your likelihood of surviving is greater if the authorities know where to look for you.
