8. Nathan Hale
A spy for the Continental Army, Nathan Hale was born in 1776 and was executed in 1776 at the age of 21. Nathan is considered to be the first American spy as he had voluntarily accepted to spy for the country. However, he was caught by the British and found with evidence. The crime of being an illegal combatant carried death penalty in those days and therefore he was hanged.
