9. Water for Elephants – Sara Gruen
This novel was actually written as part of National Novel Writing Month. It’s told as a series of memories by Jacob Jankowski. He’s a 93-year-old who lives in a nursing home. The book follows his memories as far back as when he was preparing for his exams as a veterinary student at age 23.
The story revolves around love, the circus, cruelty and an Elephant named Rosie.
