5. Gásadalur village, Faroe Islands
There are two words that describe this village, awe-inspiring. Nestled along a steep cliff that plunges to the ocean, one would be happy to stay in their house and watch the rolling hills. The modern age has not had a chance to touch many of these lives, homes stand deserted as their owners die. Recently, a path has been blasted through the mountain, allowing cars to come to the village. Expect to have a royal greeting, in 2002 only 18 people remained in this village.
