8. My Bed
My Bed is a controversial work by a British artist of Turkish-Cypriot origin, Tracey Emin. She created it in 1998 and the artwork was exhibited one year later at the Tate Gallery. Emin said that at one time she hadn’t got up from the same bed for a few days due to severe depression brought on by a failed relationship. The bed sheets have stains of bodily excretions and on the floor there are also knickers with menstrual period stains and condoms.
