4. St. Gotthard Tunnel, Switzerland
For a long time, St. Gotthard Tunnel in Switzerland enjoyed the title of being the longest road tunnel in the world. The total length of the tunnel is 16.9 km. Norway’s Laerdal Tunnel with 24.5 km length became world’s longest tunnel in 2000. But now Switzerland’s other Gotthard Base Tunnel with 57 km. is also completed. Now people traveling from Milan to Zurich can cover the distance within 2.5 hours instead of 3.5 hours.
