1. Avatar (2009)
This was the film that truly brought 3D to the forefront of cinema. Directed by James Cameron, it’s an epic love story full of gorgeous scenery. Because it was filmed in 3D, there are some beautiful scenes with the Navi that still haven’t been bettered. The look and feel of the flora and fauna is particularly wonderful and despite being 3D, there’s none of the gimmicky effects its known for.
