7. Glenn Miller
Alton Glenn Miller was an American bandleader, composer, arranger and jazz musician. On December 1944, he was to play for soldiers stationed in France. The UC-64 Norseman he rode departed UK and disappeared somewhere over the English Channel. No traces of the plane, passengers and aircrews have ever been found. His status is still listed as missing in action.
The most likely cause of the crash was 100,000 incendiary bombs jettisoned by 138 British Lancaster heavy bombers after an aborted bombing raid over Germany. One of the British aircrew reportedly saw a small airplane crashed in the same area.
