4. Bakewell Tart
These are shortcrust pastries filled with jam and a sponge filling made with almonds. Some versions have a fondant topping. They originated in Bakewell, a small town in Derbyshire in the north of England.
There’s also the Bakewell pudding, the earlier version of what inspired the tart we all know and love.
