At the University of Buffalo, Wilson Greatbatch mistakenly took a 1-megaohm variety of the heart-recording machine instead of 10,000-ohm. The circuit created an exact 1.8 millisecond beating with an interval the same with that of a heart. With some improvement, the pacemaker was improved and became very convenient to transplant into a person’s chest.
