How to Find Roofing That Fits Your Home

2 Mins read

One of the significant components of the house is the roof. It protects the home from adverse weather conditions from heavy rainfall during the summer and winter falls. Therefore, you will want to choose roofing that will withstand all these weather conditions and consistent with your budget. There are different roofing materials available in the industry, offering various pros and cons. It is vital to do extensive research to find options that will meet your needs. Below is a list of roofing options that you need to consider before making any upgrade on your roof.

How to Find Roofing That Fits Your Home

Clay or Concrete Tiles

Clay or concrete tiles are an ideal type of roofing for areas experiencing adverse weather conditions like a tornado, heavy winds, hurricanes, or even earthquakes. They are made in different shapes, designs, and colors and can be used to add an aesthetical effect to the roof. They are heavy and would require additional support when placed on the roof. Besides, they are delicate and can break when walked on. Its durability guarantees little maintenance.

Asphalt Shingles

These are the commonly used roofing materials; about 70% of roofing is asphalt shingles. They are cheaper to install and last long. Just like concrete and clay tiles, they are arranged to overlap. However, shingles are thinner and lighter. These roofing materials also come in different shapes and colors for aesthetic effect. During installation, expert skill is required to be blown away by the wind or leak during a heavy downpour.

Metal Roofing

Metal roofing is almost similar to asphalt shingles but is made from metal. They are also made thin, and therefore, light in weight. It can last up to 60 years after installation and can withstand every environmental condition. However, they can be dented when there is a heavy fall of hailstone besides being noisy. It can be a backup for an existing roof and act as a protection. The roofing requires little maintenance after installation.

Solar Tiles

The need to migrate to clean energy has seen a variety of inventions. Dependency on solar power has led to the production of solar tiles, outdoing the already existing solar panels. Most homeowners prefer to install solar tiles on their roofs as they are a cheaper option than solar panels. They are made to withstand harsh conditions and are suitable for those living in sunny areas. They help reduce energy costs as solar power can be used to operate most of the home’s energy-consuming gadgets like AC, cooking, and heating. Even though their initial installation cost can be expensive, it saves a lot in the long run.

Choosing the proper roofing for your home can be a headache. Most installers will recommend the options they are selling, but some may not meet your needs. It is essential to consider your budget and weather conditions in your location before you settle on the best roofing.
