“Cake Boss,” Buddy Valastro Arrested In Kansas City On DUI Charges

2 Mins read

Everyone knows about “Cake Boss,” Buddy Valastro. The celebrity chef is particularly well-known as the owner of Carlo’s Bakery and the star of reality television series Cake Boss. However, as of the 13th of November in 2014, “Cake Boss,” Buddy Valastro will now be known for his DUI arrest.

Too much Rum Cake?

The reality TV star was apprehended by police personnel at 1 am in Hell’s Kitchen. According to offices on the scene, they noticed a 2014 yellow Corvette driving erratically down the road. Police personnel swerved up on 10th Avenue and then continued driving erratically around to West 20th Avenue. They followed him for 12 blocks before pulling him over in front of a small catering shop called Sweet and Savory on West 33rd Street. While being pulled over, police personnel administered a breathalyzer test which Valstro failed miserably. The Breathalyzer registered a .08 meaning if he was having a lucky day it just ended right then and there.

Wrong Line, Wrong Time

Valstro was then booked for driving while being intoxicated with their ability being impaired and hauled to the 7th Precinct on the Lower East Side where he failed another Breathalyzer test. The funny part about the arrest was that Valstro tried to pull a fast one on the cops. It seems he pulled out the popular line, ‘Do you know who I am? I’m a famous reality TV star’ line which failed to impress the cops. After that he tried downplaying the number of drinks he had, but this failed to go down with the cops as well. However, he was arraigned by the 14th November and released without bail.

Impression on the Fans

Valstro, 42, is the star of the TV reality show Cake Boss. The serial follows the star who took over the family business in 1994 after the demise of his father Buddy Sr. The serial follows the reality TV star and his business Carlo’s Bakery as it deals with daily customers. The show became immensely popular and Valston went on to star in “Kitchen Boss” and “The Next Great Baker,” as well.

Considering the popularity of the bakery and the Valstro’s high media profile, the business should have been impacted but this does not seem to have happened. In fact, Carlo’s Bakery opened as usual and regular patrons flocked to the bakery to get their bakery goods.

However, a small fraction of the customers expressed disappointment about the famous owner and his misadventure. Most of them consider the matter to be private and expect Valstro to pay for his mistakes according to the law. Valstro and his Kansas City attorneys have been mum about the situation but he did release a statement on Thursday explaining what happened and asking for their support.

According to the Valstro and his Kansas City lawyers, the reality TV star has not yet entered a plea. However, he has been offered a deal that includes a 90-day driver’s license suspension and a $300 fine. Valstro is due back in court on January 6th, 2015 to deal with the case.
