Abraham Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln

Like Winston Churchill, Abraham Lincoln, has been remembered for being an outstanding politician as the President of the United States from 1861 to 1865. While he was President, he faced the American Civil War and ordered the end of slavery in the Confederate states that were not under federal control with the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863. Lincoln also suffered from depression or what was considered at the time as melancholia. During his life, Lincoln was reclusive from people but wore his emotions on his sleeve as well. Sometimes his depression was so severe that his friends would keep a close watch on him if he broke down or showed suicidal tendencies. To help himself, Lincoln would look for humor in stories and quotes to cheer himself up during trying times.
