While hunting for a job, you might be contacted with an offer from an unknown overseas company about a position as a “financial representative.” This company might say they need you to handle payments from US customers, a percentage of which you will be able to keep.

After providing them with your financial information, you may be the victim of identity theft, or you may even receive fake checks to deposit into your account. Only after sending the bulk of these fake checks’ value to you “employer” will you find out that the checks are phony, and you are out whatever amount you have already sent.
