4 “Must Have” Travel Items For Your First International Trip

Every opportunity for travel is exciting, but there’s something special about your first trip abroad. There are so many unknowns, so many adventures to experience. Some people spend half their lives dreaming about and planning international vacations before they actually get to make those dreams come true. But even with the excitement, it can still be stressful trying to figure out what you should or shouldn’t bring. Of course, any prescription medications you need and a credit or debit card are the first two “must haves” no matter where you’re traveling, but for international travel, you’ll need a few other things.

Documentation

Organizing important paperwork may not be the most exciting part of travel, but you can’t go very far without it. In addition to obtaining a passport, have a copy of your itinerary, a list of emergency numbers including the number for the United States Embassy nearest your destination and an international health insurance policy. Most medical insurance won’t apply overseas so check with your agent and purchase supplemental insurance as needed.
