4. Stephen Crane


Stephen Crane was an influential American journalist and writer in the end of 19th century. He was the last and 14th child of a Methodist couple. Crane’s notable works are The Red Badge of Courage, A Girl of the Streets and various short stories. He typically incorporated elements impressionism, realism, naturalism or a mixture of them. His reputation was enhanced by his loyal friends such as Ford Maddox Ford, H.G. Wells and Joseph Conrad. On April 1900, He experienced massive hemorrhages and his health continues to decline. Crane died in June after visiting a health spa in Germany. He was 28.
