7. Sylvia Plath


Sylvia Plath was an American writer, who wrote poems and children’s books. She earned reputation for The Bell Jar, which was inspired by her depression and events in early adulthood. She started writing at the age of 8 and one of her poem appeared in the Boston Traveler. By the time she enrolled to Smith College, Sylvia had published more than 50 short stories.
On 11 February, a nurse arrived to her home and Sylvia was found dead with her head inside an oven with the gas turned on. The cause of death is likely carbon dioxide poisoning and she had sealed all the windows and oven with cloth and towels. She was 30.
