Herbert George Wells is an important sci-fi writer and with Jules Verne, he considered as the Father of Sci-Fi. His exemplary works are The War of the Worlds, The Time Machine, The Island of Doctor Moreau, the Invisible Man and The First Men in the Moon.
In The World Set Free (1914), he predicted that radium or any radioactive element, can deliver a huge amount of energy if its rate of decay significantly accelerates. Before any scientist, e correctly described the basic concept of nuclear bomb and nuclear power plant.
