Visiting New Orleans? 5 Things to Do While You're In Town

Audubon Zoo

One of the best venues in all of New Orleans is the Audubon Zoo. Located in Uptown New Orleans, the Audubon Zoo features animals from around the globe. With its emphasis on engaging educational programs and hands-on animal encounters, the zoo prides itself on creating a showcase demonstrating the relationship between humans and animals. With natural habitats featuring everything from the local swamp critters to some of the most exquisite and unique animals on the planet, the Audubon Zoo is one destination you’ll want to visit again and again.

Audubon Aquarium of the Americas

Another section of the Audubon Nature Society of New Orleans is the Aquarium of the Americas. Featuring marine life from all over the American continents, this aquarium is one of the best in the world. Book a penguin experience and get up close to these delightful creatures or enjoy spending time watching the sharks swim by. There is plenty to see and do here. Featuring more than 3,600 animals and more than 250 species, the Aquarium of the Americas provides an unforgettable experience.

National World War II Museum

Ranked as the Number 1 attraction in New Orleans and holding a designation by Congress as America’s official museum about World War II, this attraction features an artifact collection that brings history to life. With thought provoking exhibits, 4D cinematic experiences, and much more, this museum is designed to educate and inspire visitors in the stories and heroism, tragedy, liberation, and lessons of World War II.

The French Quarter

No trip to New Orleans would be complete without a visit to the French Quarter. Whether you are looking for fun on Bourbon Street or shopping for antiques and souvenirs on Royal and Chartres, there is fun and excitement to be had in this part of the city. Stroll along the waterfront, stop in for a beignet at Café du Monde, and catch the sounds of one of the local jazz bands. Looking for a great meal? Some of the best restaurants in the city are located here in the French Quarter

Gaming in New Orleans

There is plenty to see and do during the day, and the nightlife in New Orleans is thriving too. There are several gaming casinos in the city proper that promise plenty of fun. Just outside the French Quarter is Harrah’s New Orleans. Featuring over 2,000 slot machines, gaming tables galore, and one of the best nightclubs in the city, this casino is one that should be part of any trip. Across the river on the West Bank is Boomtown New Orleans for a more low-key experience. Looking around, you can find many other casinos to enjoy as well.

Whether you are travelling with the family or coming for an exciting adventure with friends, there is plenty to do in New Orleans. From educational experiences to casinos, there’s plenty to do here, day and night.
