Top 10 Writers Who Committed Suicide

5. Anne Sexton

How depression and despair can lead one to take one’s own life is clearly evident in Anne Sexton’s case. Her poetry was an outlet to pour out her depression as her works dealt with themes that were not touched by other authors. Though her poems were creative geniuses and her work was well accepted by the people, she could not come out of her depression. In 1967 she won the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry but despair did not leave her. Her dependence on alcohol and the effects of the medications dampened her creative skill. She committed suicide in her garage.
