Top 10 Worst Leaders in Military History

4. Sir Ian Hamilton

Sir Ian Standish Monteith Hamilton was a British general in the World War I. He was considered as a capable general and entrusted to lead Allied troops during the Gallipoli campaign. During early phase of the campaign, he failed to push the attack before Turkish forces were able to set up an effective defense line. Like at the Western Front, Allied forces were quickly stopped and a stalemate ensued. Nine months later, Hamilton led a successful evacuation from the peninsula, concluding a campaign that cost Allied forces more than 250,000 troops.
