4. The Haiti Earthquake


Another recent incident that shook the world was the earthquake that struck Haiti. With a magnitude of 7.0 the earthquake claimed the lives of around 316,000 people, rendered millions of people homeless and leveled more than 280,000 buildings to the ground. More than 52 aftershocks averaging the magnitude of 4.5+ were recorded after the major quake. The Haiti earthquake took place just a couple of years back in 2010 but its dreadful memories are still fresh in the minds of those afflicted by it.
