3. Pride and Prejudice – Jane Austen
This famous book has been adapted many times but the original remains one of the best romance novels of all time. It follows the relationship between Elizabeth Bennett and Mr Darcy. The first impression isn’t a good one and Elizabeth’s view of Mr Darcy only declines after a series of misunderstandings. It’s only after it is revealed to Elizabeth that Mr Darcy has gone out of his way to ease her distress — when her younger sister runs off with Mr Wickham — that she starts to fall for him.
