9. East Africa Drought


In the mid of July 2011, a severe drought struck East Africa comprising Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Uganda and Djibouti. Due to scarcity of rains, crops got destroyed and livestock killed. This drought is reported to be the worst in over sixty years as it killed almost hundred children in a day. According to the reports of UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, 13.3 million people are in grim need for support and assistance.
