8. The Stanley Hotel
One is aware that the inspiration for the scary novel, The Shining by Stephen King was the Stanley Hotel in Colorado Rockies. However, you might not be aware that Stephen himself saw ghostly activities. While he saw a ghost child calling out to his nanny, other ghostly activities reported from the hotel include, ghost children playing in the hallway, people feeling their clothes being yanked off and the blankets being taken off their bed and folded neatly.
