5. Ahhotep I


Ahhotep I was a queen who ruled Egypt with her husband, Pharaoh Seqenenre Tao. She had a pivotal role in the establishment of the 18th century and after the death of her father, she ruled as a regent. After driving the Hyskos occupiers out of Egypt, she paved way for Ahmose I and Kamose to unite Egypt.
Ahhotep I’s tomb shows depiction of her striking down an opponent and she was awarded the Order of Valor for leadership and bravery in combat. She was widely regarded by the ancient Egyptians as a warrior queen and was presented with a staela by priests in the Amun-Ra temple for her military achievements.
