1. The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Over a number of years in prison, two men bond through acts of common decency. It follows the story of a banker who is locked up for killing his wife and her lover — although he always claims to be innocent. He finds himself protected by the guards when the warden begins using him as an accountant to help with a money laundering scheme.
