6. Ardabil, Iran
The earthquake has destroyed the largest city in Persia at that time. A nearby place has also been struck by earthquake 37 years ago killing 200,000 people and in 1997, it was again shook by an earthquake. The Ardabil earthquake claimed 150,000 lives and nearly paralyzed the economy of the country. Until now, the exact magnitude is not yet known.
