Edward Lodewijk Van Halen is an American pianist and guitarist; also the founder of a popular hard rock band, Van Halen. Eddie used several distinctive guitar playing techniques, such as artificial and natural harmonics, two-handed tapping, tremolo picking and vibrato. His solo, the “Eruption” features interesting tapping technique and considered one of the best guitar solos. Eddie hand-crafted and customized his own guitar, using neck, body and other parts bought from guitar shops. His comprehensive techniques have heavily influenced an entire generation of rock musicians and ranked him at 7th in Rolling Stone’s list of 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.
