4. Ed Sanders


Ed Sanders was a great boxer who died fighting on December 12, 1954. He had completed both the minor and the professional levels and had also won Olympic boxing championship. After the Olympics, he became professional and contested eight fights in nine months. His last fight was when he was boxing with Willie James. Both of them traded heavy blows in the first ten rounds. During the eleventh round, Sanders became tired and was hit by James with a punch combination. This left him feel unconscious and shortly after, he died due to brain hemorrhage.
