5. Tennessee William
Known for his screenplays, novels, short stories, poetry and essays, Thomas “Tennessee” William is mainly popular as a playwright. Some of the plays that he wrote for considered as classics in the theatrical world. Almost all of his known works have been adapted for the cinema. William has to his credit the distinction of winning most of the top theatrical awards of his time for his contribution to drama. These awards include the Tony Award, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Presidential Medal of Freedom besides several awards from the New York Drama Critics’ Circle.
