Chocolate cookies were accidentally invented by Mrs. Wakefield, the owner of Toll House Inn. She was trying to create chocolate cookies but ran out of baker’s chocolate. She substituted the missing ingredient with chocolate bits, thinking that the bits will melt but it did not. So the chocolate chip cookie was born.
