The Perfect Summer Accessory

2 Mins read

One of the best summer accessories in the world of outdoor-living is a fire pit. In a recent poll, 67 percent of homeowners said they wanted a fire pit in the backyard. In fact, they have become so popular that many builders are including them in basic house plans.

The Perfect Summer Accessory

A few reasons why you may consider getting a fire pit include:

  • Decoration
  • Ease and safety of use
  • Entertainment value
  • They create a warm and inviting atmosphere
  • Portability (with select types)

Whether you are looking to transform your backyard into a trendy place to hang out with friends, or are just looking to spruce up your outdoor living space, installing a fire pit can be a very practical idea.

The Perfect Summer Accessory

Decisions, Decisions

Of course, there are a few main considerations to think about. For instance, do you want a portable one, or permanent one? Do you want to burn gas or wood? Where are you going to put it, and what kind of furniture and lighting should you have in the area? The answers to these questions all come down to personal means and preference, so make sure to consider them carefully before proceeding.

There are several types of fire pits, so if you decide to get one, you need to look at what they are made of and choose accordingly. Most come with a mesh screening and some come with cooking grills, and the portable ones are lightweight.

An important part of your decision to buy a firepit should include looking at the safety tips of having one. You will need to make sure your fire pit is located on a level area that is made of stone, concrete or brick, at least 10 feet from your house.

Always burn dry seasoned wood, never use lighter fluid, gas or kerosene to light it, keep a hose, bucket of sand, or fire extinguisher nearby, and make sure you and your children are educated on how to safely put out a fire.
