When you think about buying scrubs, you might think about how they look and fit or the designs that they have on them, especially if you work in an environment where there are children as you want them to be comfortable. There are a few tips to keep in mind when selecting scrubs whether they are on purchased online or in a store.
The first thing that you want to think about is how much you want to spend. There are cheap scrubs that people sell because they no longer need them. The material is in good condition and often a little more comfortable since the scrubs have been washed, but the designs could have faded a bit from being washed. However, if you’re looking for several scrub sets, then this might be the option to go with.
Look at the set for any stains or tears. If you see that the seams look like they could rip at any moment, then avoid making the purchase. Check for holes in the pockets. You don’t want your supplies to fall through the pocket while they aren’t being used. Some scrubs need to be washed because of sanitary reasons as they can get blood and other fluids on them. Check to see that there aren’t any bleach spots or any other spots that have been left behind. Just because the scrubs are used doesn’t mean that they have to look unprofessional.
Any time you get scrubs, make sure you try them on to see that they fit in the proper manner. They shouldn’t be too tight, but you don’t want them to be so loose that they fall off the body, especially when you bend over to help a patient. Even if you get new scrubs, wash them before you wear them. Some colors will cling to the skin, especially if you sweat. Decrease the chance of the skin turning multiple colors by washing and drying on a low heat. Don’t bleach the scrubs unless they are white. A color-safe bleach can be used on other scrubs, but use the product sparingly as some people are sensitive to these products.
