Easy Ways To Save Money During The Summer

2 Mins read

With summer right around the corner, many people are already thinking ahead of ways they can save money during the summer. The rising temperatures tend to raise electric bills, which can lead to an expensive summer. Plus, for families with kids, summer can be pricey as you attempt to entertain your kids with activities. With higher gas prices and expensive vacations, the summer season can strain your finances greatly.

In order to avoid feeling the financial strain as much as possible, here are a few easy ways to save this summer.

Easy Ways To Save Money During The Summer

Ask for Discounts

Most companies are accommodating to their loyal customers, and if asked, they might be willing to extend a discount to you and your family. For instance, call your internet provider or home security provider and ask if they have any discounts or if they would be willing to lower the cost for your plan since you have been a loyal customer. The worst that could happen is that they say no.

Or, look into new companies that might be having sales or summer discounts. In fact, many competing companies are willing to beat their competitor’s prices. If you are with a cable provider, consider looking into DIRECTV’s Select Package options, as these discounted rates are often less expensive than cable.

Turn Up the Thermostat

For many, living without air conditioning is nearly impossible. However, most people do not need to run their air conditioning as consistently as they do, or as low as they do. By turning up your air conditioning temperature even just a couple of degrees, you could save quite a bit on your electric bill. It is recommended that you keep your AC temperature at 78 or higher in order to save the most energy, which is more sustainable to both the earth and your wallet.

During the times when you know you will be away from home, turn you AC off, as it is the best way to save energy. On days when it is cooler, consider keeping the AC off and using a fan or opening the windows.

Carpool

It is a known fact that gas prices rise in the summer because the summer blend fuel is more costly. Carpooling is an attractive option for many people who commute to work multiple times a week, as it is one of the best ways to save money on fuel. Plus, it is better for the environment, as the fewer cars there are on the road, the less chemicals that are emitted into the air.

Turn Down Your Hot Water

In the winter, many people turn their water heaters up high to combat with the cold weather. Chances are, in the summer, you do not need your water heater turned up high with all of the hot weather. Remembering to turn your water heater down in the summer can save you quite a bit of money each month, and you most likely will not even notice the loss of a few temperature degrees.

With summer right around the corner, these easy tips can help you be more financially smart and save money.
