3. Lou Costello
Louis Francis Cristillo is known today for his performance with Bud Abbot. The duo made dozens of films in the 1940’s and 1950’s; and one of the highest paid entertainers during the era. In 1954, they were forced to withdraw from the film industry due to Costello’s poor health. A tax problem forced both comedians to sell their assets, including homes and film rights. Costello died of heart attack after making a solo film in 1959.
