9. Julius Caesar
Battle of Pharsalus (Loss ratio 1:5) Gaius Julius Caesar was a Roman statesman and general, who have an important role in transforming the Roman Republic into an empire. A few years before his assassination in 44 BC, Julius Caesar was involved in a civil war and confronted the army of republic, led by Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus. Despite leading an army three times as great, Pompeius hesitated and allowed several months to pass without results. Pressured by his superiors and senators, Pompeius launched a hasty attack and suffered a catastrophic defeat.
