4. 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
This slow-paced film features some beautiful scenes. Again, it has some iconic characters, visuals and lines. A mysterious and obviously artificial object is found below the surface of the moon. A ship goes up to investigate, equipped with the intelligent computer H.A.L. 9000.
