6. Mos Def
Mos Def or Dante Terrell Smith started his music career in a hip hop group called Urban Thermo Dynamics. As a solo artist, he has released four albums. Mos Def’s screen performance has established him as among a few rappers who is critically acclaimed for acting works.
His film debut was The Hard Way (1991) as an anonymous gang member. In a mini-series, The Woodsman (2004) Mos Def was nominated for Image Awards, Golden Globe and Emmy. Mos Def’s other notable performance was as Ford Prefect in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (2005).
