8. Goliath Tarantula
Arachnophobes may need to look away right now, because the bird-eating Goliath Tarantula could be your worst nightmare. Measured at nearly a foot across, the Goliath Tarantula has the largest mass among spiders. It was first spotted by early explorers of South American rain forests, where they saw a huge furry spider taking a feast on a bird. Regardless of its fiendish appearance, the venom is relatively harmless to human and can be compared to wasp’s sting. The Goliath Tarantula has poor eyesight and doesn’t actively pursue human, it only bites in self-defense.
