9. Giant squids
No giant squids ever captured alive, but marine biologists estimate that some can weigh up to a ton and grow to be as much as 45 feet long. With two long feeding tentacles and eight shorter arms, eyes of giant squids can reach 10 inches in diameter. Jules Verne described a nefarious giant squid in his famous novel, “Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea”.
