Rave Up records is a myth amongst music enthusiasts, drool worthy amongst vinyl collectors, particularly if you’ve got a thing for 90’s film pop cultural classics like ‘Hight Fidelity’ or ‘Empire Records’.

Rave Up has been serving up rarities, imports and collectors vinyl for the past 20 years, owner Doris and husband “Shorty” Schartmüller, inspired by the London Rough trade store, have been there from the beginning, traveling across records stores around the world. Not only surviving trends, but driving them, starting out with initially stocking of rare punk singles, as well as the first house and techno tracks available in Vienna. Known as a reference point for local and international collectors, Rave Up is more than a record store. It is a place collectors, DJs, music enthusiasts, the curious, and people looking for a rare gem, come to meet, socialize, and grow with the store.

With a vast variety of quality music across unending genres, Reggae, Soul, Independent, Electronic and Hip Hop are sought after goodies. New releases and re-releases draw the Viennese and international DJ set. As a place to connect over music, Rave up is a Viennese institution, even stocking quite far-out stuff like Australian iconic rock alternative maestros Beast of Bourbon. Continually reinventing the wheel, whilst staying true to their roots, Rave Up has had their regular “customers” throughout the years, but still draws new faces with no fear of the digitalized future.
