This quaint and inexpensive movie rental store is a brand new addition to the Neubau district, catering to film devotees looking for art house, blockbuster and new releases. With a diverse collection of approximately 2000 titles (and rising), Oz offers a comfortable living room atmosphere, something like going to “granny’s house”—replete with old vintage furniture, kitsch wallpaper and warm colorful tones.
To top it off, it has a cafe/bar (serving coffee, beer, and wine) with a few bar stools, situated right at the register, offering the possibility to chat with either of the two owners, Paul Ertl and Leon Ilsen, who would gladly advise your choice. As if it couldn’t get cozy enough, there are plans for weekly screenings in the future, including a regular Sunday “pajama” screening. So whether you go for auteurs like Truffaut or Bergman; the latest British TV or HBO series; or Japanese anime, there is enough space to browse the video titles, or just grab a coffee and a chair, and take your time to decide.
