The walk up Nussberg pays off, promise. Located in the midst of the Nussdorf vineyards, Sirbu is the highest situated wine tavern in Vienna, enjoying grand far-reaching views. This very authentic buschenschank (seasonal wine tavern) serves only their own wines, a few of which have garnered awards. The buffet offers a simple selection of cold cuts and small warm dishes. As with authentic wine taverns, the guests represent a good cross section of Vienna’s populace: from golden agers and mountain bikers to Louis Vuitton’d ladies and freethinking families letting their wild kids loose in the grassy playground.
No space for tourist buses up here. And it’s very rare that a tourist group would climb up that hill anyway, so you’re sure to be amongst local company.
