A visiting theater buff would catch a play at Vienna’s Burg Theater. But a dedicated gourmet would rather miss the show than have to rush dinner at the Vestibül—this is not the place for a quick pre-show belly filler.
Formerly the Emperor’s private entrance to the theater, this one-of-a-kind space was redesigned by architect Luigi Blau. Marvel at the the majestic pomp of marble columns and vaulted ceilings while taking time to study enjoy their interesting menu: their motto is “oyster meets beuschl” (hashed calf’s heart and lungs). Eclectic dishes like the Solomillo Ibérico (filet of acorn pig) with curry onions and aubergine-polenta roulade satisfy gourmet cravings.
Sit in Vienna’s most grandious sidewalk dining garden on the Ring between the theater and the Rathaus. Now this is a front row seat.
