Indian Pavilion
Fit for a rajah

Located in a small nook at mouth of the Naschmarkt (from Karlsplatz direction), Indian Pavilion is widely considered the best Indian restaurant in Vienna since its inception 12 years ago. As an introduction to “Viennese curry”, the food here does not disappoint. While Anglo-philed curry can be hot and over-spiced, the Viennese version as evidenced at Pavilion arrives on the table delicate, colorful, and aromatic.

Served in small plates, the restaurant offers a revolving menu that changes daily, offering tasty delicacies that keep its loyal customers coming back. Try the succulent lamb curry which will obey your fork and melt in your mouth, while the mango lassi will soothe and cool you off.

The restaurant is owned by Ashok Chandiok and his wife Sonia; Chandiok arrived in Vienna 30 years ago, when, traveling through Europe after graduating from University in India, he unexpectedly stayed on. By now he’s acclimated to Vienna’s temperate summers—and his fans, to his gifted way with a curry.
