Even though this traditional family-style restaurant has whipped up hearty Balkan and Southern European dishes for the past 40 years, its atmosphere is decidedly Mediterranean. Spacious and warm interiors substitute as a stage for the live musicians on hand, who serenade dining patrons with romantic, melodramatic gypsy songs every night.
The cuisine is Balkan with a southern flair: meat dishes like cevepcici, a grilled minced meat and pljeskavica, a Balkan hamburger; vegetarian plates like the baked beans dish prebranac and crunchy and sweet cucumber, tomato, and goat cheese salad sopsca.
Located between the Schleifmuhlgasse galleries and Naschmarkt, Beograde enjoys a mixed crowd that ranges from family parties and tourists to local artists.
